What is CrossFit? The CrossFit prescription is “constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movements.”

 

You are the most fit when balanced in these ten general skills: Strength, Stamina, Speed, Balance, Cardio, Power, Flexibility, Accuracy, Coordination, and Agility. So imagine putting these ten skills into a hopper, spinning the wheel and pulling one out. Any given workout will consist of one or more of these skills in different patterns. High-Intensity is moving large loads over long distance fast.

 

Most people define intensity as something that it is not. We may claim that eating a large amount of food is intense or jumping out of an airplane is intense. There is a measurement for intensity:

 

FORCE x DISTANCE \ TIME = POWER. POWER = INTENSITY

 

Functional movements are everyday movements like squats, deadlift (picking up a package or a child), and other fundamental motor skills. These universal movements are natural, essential and most people do on them on a daily basis.
